Arrival and departure dates

We will meet in Kalyves village around 8-9am, in the north part of Chania and therefore you should arrive in Chania the day before. If you find a cheaper flight to Heraklion, transfer is provided for free as we are starting from Heraklion city and can get up to 5 persons in my car for free. For a larger group please contact us to discuss the best possible scenario.
On the last day of the trip we will return back to Heraklion by our car. If your flight is from Chania you will need to get the bus afterwards (it is about 2:45 minutes). The ticket is about 15 euros.
The best place to fly to is Heraklion airport as it is much easier from there to deal with transport.

Expedition plan, camping & food

The whole expedition is about 225km. This equates to about 22.5km/day in 10 days, however bad weather days will make it necessary to increase the daily kilometers up to 40 or more.
The expedition is self catering.  Usually we each look after our own breakfast, lunch and snacks and prepare a group evening meal in turn.  You are welcome to bring some food from home if you wish, however I suggest we buy most of the food, and especially water, after we meet in Heraklio or Kalyves and have decided on a plan.  We will buy 2 days worth of food and water at the beginning as there we will be able to restock during the route.  Meals in seaside towns, or beachside Taverna's, are a possibility but not every day.
